A CC caster will probably want Persistent first, and instead of Maximize or Empower.Īs for the Druid spells Magaambyan Telepath gets, I usually like:īurning Entanglement (can literally "oneshot" most fights for the first half of the game with a Lesser Empower Rod, it's crazy)įlame Strike or Volcanic Storm or Ice Storm or Spike StonesĪs you can see, the Druid spells fill the gaps in the Psychic list: massive area spells, different damage types, damage over time, large area slowing, etc. And the Metamagics are largely personal preference, but Toppling is really great to have for Magic Missile and Blade Barrier on a Force caster. There's room in there to swap Spell Focus/Spell Specialization for Precise Shot or Greater Spell Penetration or whatever you'd need for your group (and if you're dropping Allied Spellcaster that opens up another). Spell Specialization (Magic Missile, then Battering Blast, then Blade Barrier, then whatever is left that can benefit)Īnother Metamagic, probably Intensified or Empower My last Magaambyan Telepath was more of a Force caster, and did something like: Since Spell Perfection makes a single Metamagic Feat not raise the spell level, I like having 1-2 Metamagic Feats that would raise it by 3, to get the maximum benefit for Blade Barrier. Where it gets challenging is deciding what Metamagic to take through Feats and what Metamagic to rely on Mimic Metamagic for. I always like to work towards Spell Perfection with Psychics because of the interaction with Mimic Metamagic I mentioned before. And Abomination seems annoying to manage.Īs for Feats, I always have enough party members with Allied Spellcaster to where I don't need either Spell Penetration Feat. I don't like Faith unless I want to roleplay a psychic healer because healing is common and it's generally a waste of a Psychic's spells and time. I imagine many people would consider Psychedelia to be more "min/max" though. I slightly prefer Pain because I like Emberkin Aasimars (Pain uses Charisma for Phrenic Pool where Psychedelia uses Wisdom), and because you can keep getting your Phrenic Pool points back throughout the day, which feels fantastic for using Focused Force all day. Or Pain (for Painful Reminder) for more of a damaging or damage/CC hybrid.

I like Psychedelia (for Cognatogen) for more of a DC caster who uses more controlling spells. I can tell you what's worked well for me, and I usually play on Unfair, mostly turn based. That's a complicated question because it all depends on exactly what you want to do, what your group needs, what difficulty, turn based vs real time, etc. combine Spell Perfection Blade Barrier with something like Maximize Metamagic and Empower Mimic Metamagic. Add in Toppling Metamagic and/or Mimic Metamagic for more options, and to really get crazy. You'll have Magic Missile, Battering Blast, Burst of Force, Blade Barrier, and Telekinetic Storm. They can be like a Mystic Theurge, but without falling behind in caster level.įorce damage is a great way to go with the Psychic, too. The Psychic spell list is incredible to begin with, but cherry picking the best Druid spells to add on to that is even better. My favorite by far is the Magaambyan Telepath. I think it's one of the best classes in the game, and one of the best classes for Unfair. Alchemist bombs, Scorching Rays, Fire Kineticists, etc.īut Psychic is ridiculous. You add Fire vulnerability with no save, and many others can take advantage of that. Or anything that gets the Flame Curse Hex (Spirit Whisperer Wizard, Spirit Guide Oracle, Shaman). Rime Metamagic + Ice Storm is great for slowing large groups with no save, and it's even better when Ice Storm is originally a level 3 spell instead of level 4. I did a "Lich Witch" build with this and a Winter Patron and that was really fun. You can increase the power every level if you want once you get it (through your Hexes and through your Feats if you take Extra Hex). Or Hex Channeler Witch with Negative Energy Channeling. They work better in turn based, where you can better manage their abilities. They can fire off a lot of arrows every round, and can still be a tank/offtank. I'm a fan of an arcane-based Hinterlander, partly to cast Burst of Force and Caustic Eruption at range.
